A work friend has asked me to do some research for him as he doesn't get on forums about his WRX.

I will have some more information tomorrow but this is what I have so far...

He has done a fair amount of suspension damage to his wrx, hit a gutter and needs all new axels both sides, front and back.

There is a bit of panel damage as well. Don't ask how I have no idea.

The car is not drivable and he has left it in storage in Canberra as he has moved back to Adelaide for work.

What is the best thing for him to do with it? I guess money wise...

He bought it with a car loan and has a lot still to pay off on it. His insurance ran out and the reminder was sent to his old address so no he does not have insurance (silly yes).

A) Should he get it transported back to Adelaide? And do you know of anyone that will transport a car that doesn't drive?
B) Should he sell to a wrecker in Canberra and get at least some money back for it?
C) Sell for parts? How much is everything else worth?
D) Fix it? (he has been quoted 16k+) not what I would do
E) Get a new shell and reshell it?

These are all options he has been considering but has been so busy with the move and work he is unsure which is the best/cost effective way to go about it.

Just here for some advice as I am not the expert on WRX's. I'll put up pics of damage tomorrow along with more details like year etc

Thanks :)

without knowing the exact damage its hard to let you know whats the best thing but 16k to fix it is a bit rich and i think you would be better off parting it out or just selling to a wrecker which you cant do without approval from the company you have the loan thru.
it amazes me people buy cars like this when they obviously cant drive to save them self and have no money to up keep and fix them.

Yeha if you carnt afford the full comp insurance you carnt afford the car. Also not making sure his car had insurance well big mistake obviously. But being fair everyone makes mistakes and crashing a car isnt a nice feeling. If the damage is actually 16k well unless he really really likes the car then id say its life is over... get in contact with the finance company and part it. Im sure he has learnt his lesson the hard way.... dw i have done this too although my car was a 9,000 silvia and damages cost me about 3,000 lol.
